Al-Hayy (Sufism)
Description
The believer is aware of Allah as the alive, all cognizant, all activity. Within His knowledge is all that is and will be known. Comprehended in his activity is all existence. As man is higher than animals which are higher than plants, so some men are more alive than others in their knowledge and action. Not knowing himself nor being aware of his existence a man is as good as dead and his words are deadly. The sacred name [Hayy]
pronounced by men of [ma'rifah]
