Al-Ghani (Sufism)
Description
The believer is aware of Allah as the self-sufficient, the rich. All He has is unrelated to another, He has no needs, He does not need to earn. His existence and perfection depend on no-one yet all depends on Him. Even the most powerful man is needy, he depends on Allah for his position, for all that he is and has. The highest to which man can aspire is to be servant of Allah, serving His servants and that which is in his charge. The good servant comes close to Allah, receiving His richest treasure which is faith.
Context
A mode of mystical awareness in the Sufi tradition associated with the eighty-eighth of the ninety-nine names of Allah.
