Actional existence (ICA)

Description

This is experienced as knowing that to be alive is to be responsible, that there is no escape from action, that to be alive is to act; existence is to act and there is no neutrality or escape from involvement. It occurs when a one sees that to pick up one's life is to commit one's self and there is no avoiding the performance of the deed, as when one sees that just by living in a community one is actively involved in it and thus responsible for what happens to it.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of acting out one's deed (the life of doing) the first formal aspect is surrendering one's self to one's unique calling as a person. At the first phenomenological level, this occurs when one is confronted by the fact that to live is to be of service.
