Strengthening international programmes supporting national sustainable development policies
Description
The capacity of the relevant United Nations organs, organizations and bodies, international and regional intergovernmental bodies, nongovernmental organizations and local communities is appropriately enhanced so they may help countries develop sustainable development policies on request and, as appropriate, provide assistance to environmental migrants and displaced people.
Implementation
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the UN Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
