Shattering conflict myths

Implementation

In August 1995, Croatian armed forces began an offensive against the Serb-controlled Krajina region, advancing at great speed to capture Krajina's main town (Knin) barely 36 hours into its offensive. In four days, almost complete victory (without air support) was achieved with negligible losses. The offensive shattered the myths of: the formidable fighting qualities and skills of the Serb forces; the low views of military competence of Croatian and Muslim forces; international military intervention at great cost (difficulty and loss of lives).

Claim

In the case of the Bosnian conflict, the respective myths were build up over time by the international community (some parties significantly more than others) in order to justify military non-intervention in the conflict zone, and the preservation of the arms embargo.
