Resettling people

Description

Moving masses of people from one location to another more desirable place, for the purpose of decreasing population or for purpose of using the area for another reason, such as weapons testing.

Counter-claim

Resettlement creates great resistance among the people being moved because of familiarity with the area and often conscious and unconscious symbolic significance of sacred places within the area; for example, shrines and cemeteries, birthplaces, memorials to past achievements.
