Relating pure research to society

Recognizing that science and technology are as much a product of society as they are factors in its development, UNESCO devotes a third of its science programme to studying the interactions between science, technology and society. This work includes raising public awareness of science and techbology as tools for development, and training of members of the media, including those in charge of museums, science parks and exhibitions, who present such information to the public.
