Reforming orthography

  • Simplifying spelling

Implementation

A new dictionary of the German language was to have been produced in 1996 to reflect a major reform in spelling.

Claim

Simplify spelling but also simplify the grammar. Prepositions are not needs in the ages of limited information and leisure. People can now grasp the meanings from the key words alone as in telegraphic language. So instead of saying: "Discard surplus letrs in English spelling. These ar a major sorce of dificulty for lernrs and writers", one could say "Discard surplus letrs English spelling. Major sorce dificulty lernrs and writers".

Counter-claim

Changes to spelling undermine the psychological integrity of citizens as it is associated with the language in which the person has been brought up and educated.
