Implementation
As a consequence of the activities of Ramakrishna in the 1870s, young educated Hindus, while rejecting Christian missionary claims, re-examined their own faith with a view to purging it of what they perceived to be superstitions and obsolete customs in order to bring it into line with other world religions.
