Providing training on integrated pest management techniques

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

In Bangladesh, more than 64 subdistricts run farmer field schools for integrated pest management. In Indonesia, more than 250,000 farmers have graduated from season-long field schools. After attending field schools, many participating farmers are encouraged to share what they learnt.
