Protecting trade secrets

Context

In general, a trade secret is any formula, pattern, device or compilation of information used in a business to obtain an advantage over competitors who do not know or use it. Perhaps the most famous trade secret is the formula for manufacturing Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola was accorded trade secret protection in 1920 because the recipe had been continuously maintained as a trade secret since the company's founding in 1892, and it exists to this day.
