Protecting homeworkers
Context
Homeworkers are often poorly protected as a result of their ambiguous legal status, their lack of visibility and their isolation. In countries where protective legislation exists, problems of enforcement are common. Elsewhere legislation is inadequate or unclear. Action-oriented programmes to improve the conditions of work of homeworkers, or to help them to organize, remain exceptional.
Implementation
ILO produces guidelines to assist governments in the protection of homeworkers.
