Promoting market-led economic recovery

After two years of crisis conditions, there has been a dramatic improvement in the global economic outlook. Factors that will power the global economic engine in Y2K include continued buoyant conditions in America, improved prospects for Europe, and a significant recovery in Asian emerging markets. However, the one place clouding this benign outlook is Japan, where there is growing scepticism about the pace of economic recovery (Davos 2000).
