Offering internet service for NGOs

  • Providing internet support for non-profit groups

Implementation

iComm is a Canadian organization which offers free internet service and support to non-profit, charitable and community groups. Volunteers arrange for the donation of full internet access accounts, space for WWW pages, mailing lists and many other technical services to organizations.

The Soros Foundation spent $US 4 million in 1994/95 to provide e-mail and full Internet access to individuals and organizations in Central & Eastern Europe as well as the non-Slavic republics of the NIS. Their object was to build the capability of local communities and organizations to take action for sustainable development.
