Monitoring distant air pollution

  • Monitoring broad-scale air quality
  • Monitoring trans-frontier pollution
  • Monitoring transboundary air pollution
  • Monitoring long-range air pollution

Implementation

A 1998 European Union Directive on monitoring will allow the collection of data which can be used to assess progress towards the EU strategy which aims to reduce average CO2 emissions from new cars to 120g/km by 2010 at the latest. As part of this strategy the data will also allow monitoring of the agreement that was reached by ACEA (Association of European Automobile Manufacturers) to reduce CO2 emissions from new cars to 140g/km by 2008.
