Cybernetic management is a theory of management which conceptualizes the management process as principally a flow of information between structurally and functionally inter-related parts. It emphasizes an holistic and total system approach to decision-making. The management function (e.g. in social, political, and economic organizations) may be viewed as analogous to the cerebral and neural functions in a physiological or a biological system. An emphasis is placed upon the design of information loops in organizational communication systems and upon the feedback principle, positive and negative. Cybernation, then, encompasses the cybernetic management concept as it is found both in the factory (automation) and in the office (computerization).
