Using compatibility or interface or interconnection capability among computers from different manufactures. Includes peripheral equipment and software and particularly is directed at communications links in automation networks. Interconnection compatibility or interworking may be achieved through multiple standard adherence by manufacturers, by conversion software, or by OSI standards issued by the International Standards Organization.
