Improving environmentally sound methods for forest harvesting

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

Agenda 21 recommends ecologically sound and economically viable methods, including planning and management, improved use of equipment, storage and transportation to reduce and, if possible, maximize the use of waste and improve the value of both wood and non-wood forest products.
