Improving environmental statistics
- Providing environmental statistics
Description
Evironmental statistics are drawn from professional and academic bodies, government statisticians, policy makers, administrators and scientists. It is the interface between the different areas of application of environmental statistics and combining these different data sources that creates the challenge facing the environmentalist. There are specialised statistical techniques which have been developed for analysing environmental data; mathematical models designed to integrate large amounts of environmental data into coherent pictures of particular environmental systems; specific problem solving techniques for co-ordinating data collection over large geographical areas and over many dimensions of measurement relevant to environmental issues. There are particular techniques for formulating environmental policies given the nature of the information that has been made available by environmental statistical methods.
