Improving enforcement against game poaching
- Policing hunting of protected and endangered species
Implementation
The organisation, Student Nature Guard "BARS (Pantera)" was created in 1998 in the Amur region of Russia by a group of local students. Members of BARS in their work mostly focus on the detention of poachers and ecological education activities. In 1999 they organized the patrolling of the hunting area in Amur region while conducting biodiversity level estimating activities in the 7 areas. BARS rangers arranged several field trips to the nature reserves in order to research the status of the population of rare species and progress in biodiversity conservation management there.
