Financing charities

Description

Giving money to benevolent activities, especially organizations and institutions designed to help those in need.

Claim

Financing charity permits care of those social groups and nations which the contemporary social system omits. As such, it is the means by which societies become able to extend their care.

Counter-claim

Financing is an inadequate substitute for direct human service, a way of "buying off" people for whom no helpful programme is forthcoming.

Charity denies a social or national group access to means of self-sufficiency so that they can provide gratitude and satisfaction to a group of donors.
