Developing procedural rules for cooperation amongst NGOs
- Evolving proposals for equitable representation of NGOs in international meetings
- Creating code of conduct for NGO participation in international affairs
Description
The establishment of rules and regulations to govern collective NGO operations at the national and international level, such as the reciprocal obligations of representatives and their member organizations, as well as regulations for those organizations themselves.
Claim
NGOs need to develop procedural rules that would enable them to work together more effectively. All NGOs need a place where they can share information, deal with issues of common interest, and exercise democratic forms of representation. NGOs are pushing for rules that would ensure effective, equitable, gender and geographically balanced participation in international negotiation, but all all can participated. NGOs must grapple with this issue and come up with proposals to bring about equitable involvement.
