Developing forest resources assessment systems as a basis for national planning
Implementation
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
Agenda 21 recommends developing national systems of forest resource assessment and valuation, including necessary research and data analysis, if possible accounting for the full range of wood and non-wood forest products and services; and incorporating results into plans and strategies and, where feasible, into national systems of accounts and planning.
