Demonstrating supplemental fishing means

The European Unions's Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) is the main instrument for aid to the fisheries sector. It includes socio-economic measures to train fishermen leaving the industry, support early retirement schemes and compensate fishermen for not fishing. Another EU structural scheme, the Community Initiative PESCA aims to help areas dependent on fishing to diversify their activities away from the sector.
