Groups based on a common ideology must frequently alter it to fit new circumstances. Dogmatism is a way of thinking which attempts to maintain the purity of the original ideology. Dogmatism is also used in a pejorative sense, meaning the refusal to change one's thinking even when all evidence demonstrates that it is necessary.
Claim
Some truths are so vital that even extreme circumstances do not alter them.
Counter-claim
Truth arises out of the given circumstances, not as an abstraction.
