Implementation
Swallowtail butterflies were chosen as the first insect action plan by the IUCN species survival commission because these large butterflies are the most attractive to non-entomologist and have long excited wonder amongst naturalists of all persuasions. Out of a total of 573 species, 170 are considered in need of conservation action, comprising 34 regions of the world.
