Conducting willingness to pay surveys for infrastructure services

Implementation

A 1994 survey of the international state-of-the-art in conducting willingness to pay for water surveys revealed some 20 substantive studies on the topic. Many covered cities in West and East Africa and focus on water vending in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and the United Republic of Tanzania. The majority of available studies have emanated from research work sponsored by the World Bank or other development agencies, such as the United States Agency for International Development.
