Cohousing
Description
Co-housing is a style of cooperative living, originating in Denmark, that combines the autonomy of private dwellings with many of the resource advantages of community living. Usually initial residents participate in the planning and design of the community so that it directly responds to their needs. Most cohousing projects have a voluntary central cooperative dining room/recreation centre surrounded by individual housing units. The complex is architecturally designed to build community as well as provide shelter.
