Claiming irrelevance of the United Nations

If the UN needs to have a role in international regulation – a big "if" – its mandate should be limited to oversight that is necessary and sufficient, and its policies must make economic and scientific sense. Thus far, the UN's regulator-wannabes have not met these conditions.
