Assessing influence of the age structure of population on sustainable development

Assessment of the implications of age structure of the population on resource demand and dependency burdens would range from educational expenses for the young, to health care and support for the elderly and household income generation.

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
