Assessing impact of structural adjustment programmes on women
Implementation
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends that, in research done on structural adjustment programmes, special attention should be given to the differential impact of those programmes on women, especially in terms of cuts in social services, education and health and in the removal of subsidies on food and fuel.
