Implementation
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
Agenda 21 recommends assessing the contribution of existing activities in technical cooperation, including that related to transfer of technology and know-how, as a means towards strengthening and building national capacity and capability for integrated environment and development management; and assessing means of improving the quality of international technical cooperation, including that related to transfer of technology and know-how.
