Threatened species of Thunnus thynnus

The breeding population of the western Atlantic bluefin tuna has decreased from 250,000 to 22,000 since 1975, and stocks in the eastern Atlantic and Mediteranean are also falling very fast. If overfishing continues on the scale of the last few decades, the species will become extinct soon.
