Background

Soriculus salenskii is a member of the genus Soriculus which comprises 10 species in total. The genus is represented in Bhutan, northern India, Sikkim, Nepal, China, northern Myanmar, Tonkin (Vietnam) and Taiwan.

Soriculus salenskii is only known from the type locality in northern Sichuan, China.

Incidence

Soriculus salenskii is considered as "Critically Endangered" by the IUCN.
