Threatened species of Otus mirus

Otus mirus appears to be rare and must be assumed to be increasingly at risk from steady destruction of habitat within its range.

Otus mirus is known from rainforest on two mountains (Hilong-Hilong and Apo) on Mindanao in the Philippines and recently from Mount Katanglad.

Otus mirus is listed as "Vulnerable" by the IUCN Red List.
