Nature

The retreat from Thailand is thought to be due to the hunting to near extinction of the larger mammals on whose corpses these birds would feed.

Background

Gyps indicus is found in: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Viet Nam. It is no longer thought to exist in Thailand.

Incidence

It is considered as a "Lower Risk" species on the IUCN Red List.
