Threatened species of Erythrotriorchis buergersi

  • Threatened species of Chestnut-shouldered goshawk

Nature

Only a small part of the range Erythrotriorchis buergursi is threatened by deforestation and hunting should not be a problem, but there is a lack of records or sightings. This reflects the species rarity.

Background

Erythrotriorchis buergersi is a rare and little-known species (having been recorded only a few times), apparently restricted to hill forest at 450 - 1,580 m, in eastern New Guinea including the mountains of the Central Ranges, Huon peninsula, North Coastal Range and from near Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. A single record exists from the Foya Mountains, Irian Jaya, Indonesia.

Incidence

Erythrotriorchis buergersi is considered by the IUCN as a "Data Deficient" species. CITES lists the species as "Appendix 2".
