Sexual frigidity

  • Frigidity
  • Anorgasmia
  • Orgasmic dysfunction

Nature

Sexual frigidity is the inability of a woman to achieve orgasm during sex. It may a total or partial and can be a symptom of an underlying neurotic conflict which can be attributed to any number of causes. Some women may feel tormented by this and go from one partner to another, hoping that each new experience will bring orgasm.

Incidence

Some estimates suggest that 50-90% of all women are frigid.

Counter-claim

Frigidity is a patriarchal term that fails to take account of situations in which the woman's refusal to take part in sexual intercourse is a form of heterosexual celibacy through which the woman reacts against the power of a male oppressor.
