Sexual dysfunction of torture victims

Nature

Victims of torture have a high rate of sexual dysfunction. Victims have reduced desire or requirement to engage in sexual activity, decreased ability to obtain and maintain a penile erection during sex or delayed or absent intervaginal ejaculation.

Incidence

In a recent study of Greek men who had been tortured 29% experienced some form of sexual dysfunction. All women who have undergone female genital mutilation have impaired sexual functioning, as that is the point of the mutilation.
