Refusal of families to participate

In the complex technological society of today, the family is kept from authentic global participation by its necessary concern to guard its own security. By avoiding contact with other cultural groups in the community or further afield, the family avoids any suffering or personal loss that might increase fragmentation of social relationships which are already very difficult to maintain.
