Nature
The passage of an amount of urine considerably in excess of the 1.5 litres or thereabouts which is the usual daily quantity.
Incidence
Polyuria is a symptom of diabetes, certain forms of Bright's disease and some nervous diseases. In Chinese medicine, frequent and copious urination points to a deficiency of kidney qi.
