Over-reaction to past sexual ethics

Ethical behaviour as concerns sexuality is primarily based on reaction against the sexual ethics of the past rather than the creation of future-oriented guidelines. Whether response to the past is based on permissive or on reactionary attitudes, people are more concerned with dead issues than with the living needs of today.
