This group of viruses causes infections in insects, as their primary host, and mammals and birds as the secondary host. They cause a variety of haemorrhagic fevers, encephalitis and other conditions, including African horse sickness and Blue tongue in sheep.
Background
Similar in many respects to Orthoreoviruses. There are more than 130 serotypes of orbivirus.
