Misogyny
- Woman-hating
- Gynophobia
Nature
The distrust and dislike of women, by either sex, has a long individual and social history. It is not surprising, in the light of psychiatric considerations, that many persons having this tendency express it subconsciously. This makes misogyny much less visible, resulting in its persistence as an obstacle to full experience of the natural emotions and as a factor in social injustice to women.
Claim
Those who simultaneously oppose abortion and abortion-prevention measures such as family planning and sex education can be called misogynous, as their main aim cannot be population control, but rather is to prevent women from exercising adequate control over their lives. All studies show that increased availability of contraception leads to a drop in the number of abortions.
