Minimal access to necessary information in remote areas

Nature

Communication of basic information is important to every community, but access to that information is an problem for many remote villages. Residents are often uninformed about services available to them and/or laws and regulations that affect them. The minimal availability of newspapers, telephone services and libraries means there is limited access to world and regional information. Even basics such as means of income are limited by poor access to such information as market conditions and price quotations. Without effective links to necessary data sources, limited access to information restricts initiative; and residents remain cut off and unable to take advantage of knowledge which is readily available.
