Microbial pests in industry

Nature

Considerable problems are caused by the growth of microbes in rolling mill oils, cable ducts, aviation kerosene, metal plating solutions, and other unexpected but troublesome locations. Eliminating the slime in nuclear coolant ponds and dressing grinding wheels fouled by infected oils, are costly processes. The presence of such organisms reduces productivity, introduces delays and reduces product quality.
