Loss of cultural content in translation

Nature

Some languages are virtually impossible to translate accurately into another language, as the nuances of the original tongue are lost in translation. A good writer does not rely only upon the richness of imagery, rather he often draws heavily upon the connotations and associations that only readers of his own background and history can know. Thus, regardless of how excellent a translation may be, the intent of the original work very often loses its own identity and assume some of the culture of the language into which it has been translated.
