Inflexible technology

  • Rigid technological systems

Incidence

As currency inflation leapt in Brazil, calculators became defunct because their displays could not cope with multiplication of the large figures. Some telephone systems are not able to expand beyond a certain number of subscriber numbers, despite capability to have more connections, simply because the computer control can only accept telephone numbers of a certain number of digits and these permutations have run out.
