Hypoglycaemia
- Low blood sugar
Nature
Symptoms of hypoglycaemia include extreme hunger, irritability, dizziness, depression, lethargy, drowsiness, nausea and headache. The usual and incorrect treatment is to eat sugary food, which puts too much sugar into the blood, producing a high mood followed by a very low mood a few hours later. It is better to eat regular meals containing whole grains, meat, fish, cheese and vegetables, and snacks of fresh fruit and nuts.
Incidence
90% of Western people suffer from hypoglycaemia at some time. There are possible links to diabetes and chronic fatigue syndrome.
