Discrimination against women in sports

  • Exclusion of women from athletic competition
  • Prejudicial treatment of women in athletic training
  • Active prejudice towards female athletes

Nature

The very traits that set women apart as successful athletes: an aggressively competitive nature and natural strength and size, are the same that are generally regarded as masculine and therefore not to be cultivated by women. This attitude in the West along with the belief that women are physically inferior result in fewer training facilities, less money and poor quality coaching for women athletics.

Incidence

Cerain Arab countries have all-male Olympic teams.
